• Clay obtained from about 10 cms. below earth’s surface is used for preparing mud -pack.
• The earth is dug out; impurities, dirt such as pebbles, compost are removed from upper layers.
• Then this soil is stored in a clean dry place.
• It is soaked overnight in water and then sieved and ground.
• This clay is then mixed with warm water to form a smooth paste.
• Depending on different types of applications, temperature and consistency are predetermined.
• This paste is allowed to cool, then spread on strip of cloth that vary in size according to requirements.
• Mud pack is placed on the abdomen and wrapped with flannel or other protecting material.
• Diabetics are specially benefited from mudpacks applied to abdomen.
• Mud treatment retains moisture and coolness for longer periods than cold-water packs or compresses.
• The cold moisture relaxes pores of the skin, draws blood to the surface, relieves pain and inner congestion and eliminates poisonous matter.
